Dell Streak 7 is the new 7” Android tablet in town. It has been barely around for a few days and the XDA-Developers community has succeeded in rooting it already! If you have managed to get your hands on the tablet and can’t wait to get root access on it, read on for the complete guide.
The method is very straight forward and does not require installing any Dell Streak 7 specific drivers or software. It utilizes one of the most widely used universal Android rooting tools for several Android devices: SuperOneClick. The result is a rooted device without any hassle of a complicated procedure. This method was shared by us with XDA-Developers forum member jeremy215 who just tried rooting the device with SuperOneClick and succeeded.

Now, it’s time to proceed to follow all the list of essential pre requisites which you need to follow before proceeding to the procedure in the next page. Please note that it’s very important to follow these pre requisites so as to ensure that the device is rooted successfully and safely too.
Essential Pre Requisites:
A.Backup all the data present in your Dell Streak 7 ONLY with the help of below mentioned tips. Please don’t backup the data using the PC Suites as after rooting it may or may not get detected in the phone.
- Text messages – Use “SMS Backup & Restore app”,
- Phone Contacts – Sync with the Gmail application,
- Call Log – Call Log and Restore
- Pictures, Music, Videos, Files etc.– Copy to internal / External SD Card,
- Internet & MMS Settings – Backup all the settings from the path “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”
- Notes – Manually you need to note down or need to transfer to Evernote.
B. Now, enable the USB Debugging in your device from the path “Settings > Applications > Development > USB debugging”. Device should be charged with at least of 60% of battery life so as to ensure that it doesn’t get turned Off in the middle of rooting process.
C. Disable all the Security suites as well as Firewall tools in your computer. Apart from that you need to uninstall all the security suites in your Streak 7 as these tools tend to interrupt the process of firmware rooting.
Note: If you are on any of the custom firmwares or any of the beta firmwares then you need not follow this article as your device is already rooted.

Procedure to Root Dell Streak 7:
Step 1. Download Streak 7 One Click Rooting Package from here to your computer. Unzip the same preferably to the desktop using the tools like WinRAR or WinZIP.
Step 2. From the list of extracted files, click on the file “Super One Clicked Root” tool and with the help of USB cable connect the phone to the computer using the USB cable which you got at the time of purchase. Please note that even if a single file is missing from the extracted files then check with the extraction or download of the zip file.
Step 3. Click on “Root” tab to begin the process of rooting. As soon as the rooting process is done, you will then be intimated with the message as the device rooted successfully.
Please note that just in a rare case if the device refuses to respond then restart the device and repeat the whole process from starting. So, there you go you have now successfully rooted the Dell Streak 7 tablet easily.
Note: If you are unable to see “Superuser” application in your device despite successfully rooting then you need to download the same from an all new Android Market Place.
